Stony Plain United Church is pleased to host an amazing folk concert by Saskia Delaronde and Nathan Tinkham, who are from Vancouver Island.
Saskia Delaronde is a perennial favorite on the Canadian folk scene. As a European immigrant she has come to love Canada deeply, but periodically returns to Holland to re-connect with her roots which shows in songs like War Bride, Spring Day in Holland, and Two Countries. Her talent as a seasoned singer/songwriter blends with a sense of humor that quickly puts her audience at ease. She performs with positive energy and strong conviction. Saskia toured and performed for 20 years with (her late husband) Darrel Delaronde as “The Great Plains’ and 10 years with Gary Fjellgaard throughout Canada and Europe. Nathan Tinkham helped her kick start her career with her first two albums and tours.
Nathan Tinkham is a veteran of the Canadian folk, cowboy and country scenes. Nathan began his career in the early 70s busking on the streets of Victoria. Since then, he has worked and recorded with Ian Tyson, Wilf Carter, Cindy Church, Quartette, Diamond Joe White, Undertakin’ Daddies, Great Western Orchestra, Saskia and a host of others. His songs have been recorded by Quartette, Cindy Church, and Gary Fjellgaard to name a few. He currently lives on Gabriola Island where he continues to write and work in his studio.
Tickets are available at Stony Plain United Church, or at the door.
