MASKWACIS -- Two men were arrested in the Louis Band First Nation after an incident on April 12th.
RCMP say the men were pursued by police after they fled from a traffic stop, which eventually led the Mounties to a nearby residence. The two suspects were then seen abandoning their vehicle and running into the home. Prior to pursing the suspects any further, police say they noticed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the suspects' vehicle.
After securing a search warrant for both the vehicle and the residence, RCMP located multiple firearms, magazines and ammunition, military-style attack vests, and a stolen vehicle. The men were taken into custody and face multiple charges:
- Bryatt Threefingers (28), a resident of Louis Bull First Nations, was charged with:
- Breaching firearms prohibitions (x4);
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Flight from peace officer; and
- Driving while unauthorized.
- Tracy Crier (19), a resident of Louis Bull First Nations, was charged with multiple firearms offences.
"The Maskwacis RCMP would like to thank community members and leadership from all 4 Nations of Maskwacis and their continuous support in helping get illegal firearms away from the community and out of the hands of those who are using them for illegal purposes," said Insp. Richard Mckay, Detachment Commander of the Maskwacis RCMP.
Police are actively investigating the firearms that were seized. If you have any information regarding the origins of these firearms, please contact the Maskwacis RCMP at 780-585-4600.
