RCMP say some of the items were stolen recently, other things were taken two and four years ago

A recent police search for suspected stolen property at a rural residence proved prolific.  "There was just an abundance of items," said Constable Logan Hill with the Ponoka RCMP.

Officers went to a place on Morning Meadow Drive in late May with search warrants.  They found so many things they filled a cube truck not once, but twice.  "So it was good that we were able to find all this stuff, but it was definitely an overwhelming amount," said Hill.

There were tools, bikes, snow blowers, pressure washers and flatbed trailers.

"We came across totes with items in it with different people's names on it that didn't obviously reside at the property. As we looked up these other people's names from different items that we had seen, we realized that they were also victims of break and enters or thefts." explained Hill.

A few of the break and enters were recent but some occurred several years ago. "One lady I found items of hers from a break-in from 2022 and then the one smaller flatbed utility trailer that had all the other stolen stuff on it. It was stolen four years ago from Ponoka."

Some of the personal items were quite precious.

"We were surprised at how many of the items were, like, people's family photos and old documents pertaining to family members and stuff like that."

Hill said police have been pretty successful with returning a lot of the items to their owners.

"A lot of our victims that we've contacted or been in contact with are just grateful that we found some stuff".

Two people have been charged in connection with this case.
