They're part of the preparations for the Ponoka Stampede
The Town, along with Alberta Transportation, have brought in temporary measures to manage motorists around the Stampede grounds.
While the annual event doesn't begin until Tuesday, increased traffic volumes and visitors means safety measures will be implemented a few days earlier.
The traffic control plan includes reduced speed limits on two popular routes, Highways 53 and 2A. Drivers will also notice a temporary 4-way stop at Highway 53 and 50th Street.
In a news release outlining the short-term changes, the Town encouraged residents to consider alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic flows during Stampede week.
The modifications will be in effect 24 hours a day and last for the duration of the Stampede.
