Chamber Trade Show
The upcoming Ponoka Chamber of Commerce Trade Show has added another element that could help boost attendance. "Any gatherings like this have been more difficult since Covid" Sherry Gummow commented to The One News.
The Chamber president said a job fair will be set up alongside dozens of vendors from in and around the community. The extra component may pull in a bigger crowd.
"We had upwards of 1000 people last year," recalled Gummow.
She added 1500 usually come through.
It might also pay off for businesses affected by staff shortages.
"Right now it's just really difficult to get enough staff in order to be able to do these extracurricular activities," Gummow pointed out. She explained not everyone even has enough people to work at the trade fair.
"Maybe we'll find some employees," said Gummow.
The trade show takes place April 12 and 13 at the arena complex. There is no cost to attend.
