Residents also now know how much more they'll pay on property taxes

Ponoka Town Council has approved the 2024 budget. The total amount is $26,150,422,  a majority of that, nearly $23,000,000 has been earmarked for the Operating Budget and the remainder will be used for the Capital Budget.

Chief Administrative Officer, Sandra Lund, noted in a news release "Council and Administration worked to find efficiencies and arrive at a lean, fiscally responsible budget."

After assessing residential and non-residential property growth, this year's property tax increase will be 4.9 per cent which is the same amount Council arrived at and initially approved in last fall's Interim Budget.

Mayor Kevin Ferguson said "Council worked very hard to keep property taxes as low as possible while continuing to fund all the key services that citizens expect."
