Stony Plain, AB

The Town of Stony Plain has received information from CN Rail regarding upcoming reconstruction work on our local rail crossings. This work will result in subsequent closures and detours at the Highway 779 (48 Street) and 50 Street crossings between July 25 and August 1. CN Rail advised that the repairs are expected to take approximately three to five days per crossing, contingent upon favourable working conditions.

What to expect:

  • Highway 779 (48 Street) Crossing: closed July 25 to July 30.
  • 50 Street Crossing: following the completion of Highway 779 crossing, exact dates to be announced.

Alternate routes:

  • Golf Course Road rail crossing
  • Veterans Boulevard rail crossing
  • 47 Avenue
  • 49 Avenue

“We are pleased to see CN Rail taking action to reconstruct these rail crossings,” says Mayor William Choy. “This work will enhance the safety and quality of key transportation infrastructure in our community. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as CN Rail works to make these repairs.”

All dates are tentative and subject to change.
