Spruce Grove, AB
The City’s new Municipal Development Plan (MDP), The Shape of Our Community, has been adopted by Council
“Over the last two years, the input from City Administration, Council and community members has been fantastic; everyone really came together to help shape this MDP”, said Mayor Jeff Acker. “This guiding document captures our principles and values and moves the City forward. When we look to fundamental strategic planning, the MDP will continue to build our community connections for the next 20-30 years through major community development plans. I’m very supportive of this wonderful resource that has been developed and thank all those who contributed to the MDP.”
The MDP, which was approved and adopted by Council on September 9, 2024(External link), guides future growth and development in Spruce Grove for the next 20 to 30 years by building on the community’s core values and preferences.
During the MDP development process, community members, business owners, and organizations were engaged and offered valuable feedback to the City. This feedback was considered, and many ideas were incorporated into the MDP.
The MDP supports decision-making around urban development and supports key aspects of community such as economic development, housing, transportation, social needs, parks and recreation, culture, and the environment.
The MDP aligns with other municipal documents including area structure plans, the City Centre Redevelopment Plan, and the Land Use Bylaw to create a cohesive community.
