Stony Plain Council Approves the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan Update

 Council has approved the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan, reaffirming the Town’s commitment to a forward-thinking and community-driven approach to governance. The updated Plan, approved at last night’s Council meeting, sets the course for the next four years by ensuring strategic priorities remain aligned with the needs and aspirations of residents.

“The Strategic Plan is our community’s roadmap for the future,” says Mayor William Choy. “It reflects what we value as a Town and lays out the steps to ensure we continue to grow responsibly, strengthen our economy, and invest in the services and infrastructure that matter most to our residents.”

Reviewed and updated annually, this iteration of the Strategic Plan marks the final update for this term of Council. It reinforces Stony Plain’s long-standing commitment to enhancing governance, promoting economic growth, investing in infrastructure, encouraging community development, and prioritizing environmental responsibility. These five priority areas guide decision-making and ensure that Council’s vision translates into meaningful action.

The five key pillars include:

• Governance & Partners: We embrace and foster partnerships and relationships that support community values, collaborative leadership, and sustainable growth.
• Community Development: We develop and deliver events, amenities, and value-add services that create a safe, culturally rich, diverse, and self-sufficient community.
• Supportive Infrastructure: We focus on short and long-term capital planning supported by best practices for asset management to maintain, improve, and develop the infrastructure and amenities that support a high quality of life.
• Economic Opportunity: We promote economic opportunities through proactive actions that support our current business community and attract new business to Stony Plain.
• Environmental Responsibility: We take practical, balanced, sustainable actions to protect the environment for our residents, today and in the future.
