Municipal Development Plan Update 2024 – Bylaw 2694/D&P/24 Received Second Reading and Approval for Submission to EMRB
With the adoption of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board’s (EMRB) Regional Agriculture Master Plan (RAMP), member municipalities, including the Town of Stony Plain, must update their Municipal Development Plan (MDP) by the end of 2024 to incorporate policy direction and guidance on agriculture in the region. To guide MDP updates, the EMRB required each member municipality to complete a RAMP Regional Context Statement by the end of 2023. Stony Plain’s submission was recognized as complete by the EMRB on May 23, 2023. Administration has updated Stony Plain’s MDP to align with the Town’s RAMP Regional Context Statement and is proposing the amendment as a new bylaw (Bylaw 2694/D&P/24). This bylaw received its first reading on June 10, 2024.
At last night’s meeting, Council approved second reading of Bylaw 2694/D&P/24 after a Public Hearing was held for public input on the proposed bylaw. Council also granted Administration authorization to submit it to the EMRB for review, which is required prior to Council consideration of the bylaw for third reading.
