Investigations by the Parkland RCMP GIS Unit and Edmonton Police Service (EPS) have resulted in a male being charged after two bank robberies.

 On July 17, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a male suspect entered the CIBC bank located at 100 Mcleod Avenue in Spruce Grove, Alta. The male walked up to a bank teller and handed a note which stated that this is a robbery, he had a gun (not produced) and demanded money.  The male then left the bank on foot without further incident. The robbery was captured on bank CCTV video.

On July 18, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m., EPS responded to a robbery at the Servus Credit Union bank located at 2315 Rabbit Hill Road in Edmonton. A lone male suspect had walked up to a bank teller stated that this is a robbery, demanded money and that he had a gun.

Investigators from the two police services quickly determined that both robberies were likely carried out by the same person.

 As a result of the investigations, on Sept. 14, 2024, the suspect, Chilliwack B.C. resident Jacob Luke Mcdonald (30), was arrested in Chilliwack. He was transported back to Alberta and was subsequently charged with:

  • Robbery (x2);
  • Disguise with intent (x2).

Mcdonald is remanded into custody with his next court date set for Sept. 23, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert.
