PARKLAND COUNTY BUDGET KEEPS TAX RATES AMONGST LOWEST IN EDMONTON REGION
Parkland County Council has approved the operating and capital budget for 2025, keeping tax increases low and predictable while continuing to maintain service levels and fund important investments.
Council approved a municipal tax increase of 2.5%. The impact to a residential property assessed at $500,000 is $4.71 per month. The impact to property owners will vary depending on changes to the property and market conditions.
The 2025 Budget also sees the County maintain net financial assets of $84 million, while the total cumulative debt after budget effects will be 36% of the County’s total allowable debt limit.
"In our commitment to fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth, we have managed to keep tax increases low and predictable for our residents,” said Mayor Allan Gamble.
“Our residential and non-residential tax rates continue to rank amongst the lowest in the Edmonton region. Careful planning has empowered us to confidently confront the challenges of declining linear property assessments and high inflation, all while maintaining our valued service levels and making crucial investments in regional growth and infrastructure. We believe the decisions we’ve made today will safeguard our community, help ease cost of living pressures and ensure that Parkland County remains a thriving and vibrant place to live and work, now and into the future."
The 2025 tax bylaw will be approved in April 2025.
Residents should note that Alberta municipal property tax notices will include items beyond the municipal requirement reflected in the budget presented to Council. These will be detailed as separate items on the tax notice, including the education and seniors' requisitions, which the County collects on behalf of housing bodies and the Province.
