Heavy Metal Place update – March 2025

Work on the finishing touches at Heavy Metal Place continued in March, in preparation for the grand opening celebration on Saturday, May 10.

What a transformation since our very first update back in April of 2021 and the official groundbreaking in November 2022! It’s been exciting to watch the facility grow and take shape over that time and we thank you for following along with the progress. This will be our final monthly Heavy Metal Place update as we prepare to open the facility to the public.

Key project updates from March include:

Overall facility

• Completion of all major construction activities.
• Final testing of all components (checking and testing every light, electrical plug, switch, toilet and water tap in the facility to ensure proper functionality).
• Final inspections and approvals.
• Ongoing installation of audio/video equipment.
• Preparing and coordinating staff and tenant move-ins.
• Installing window coverings.
• Final cleaning.

Spectator and community arenas

• Installation of score clocks, goal lights and other sport-related equipment.
• Cleaning every seat in the spectator arena.
• Testing each seat to ensure correct installation.

Black box theatre

• Completion of acoustic panel installation.
• Installation of theatrical lights and audiovisual systems.
• Completion of the dressing rooms including lights, mirrors and millwork.

Other progress

• Final painting and touch-ups.
• Programming of doors and controls.
• Final furniture placement and installation.
