Stony Plain, AB
Get ready for a jam packed three-days of family fun! The Town of Stony Plain and the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club are excited to host the 2024 Farmers’ Days Rodeo and Exhibition from May 31 through to June 2 at Heritage Park.
It’s simply not summer here in Stony Plain without Farmers’ Days and this event offers incredible attractions, including the rodeo, midway rides, West Parkland Gas Co-op Parade, Mayor and Council’s Pancake Breakfast, Kids Korral, saloon, market, live entertainment and a variety of food vendors. The festivities will begin on Friday, May 31 with midway rides opening at 3 PM. Mayor and Council Pancake Breakfast will be hosted at the Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum on Saturday, June 1 from 7 AM to 9:30 AM. Tickets for adults cost $2 with free entry for children under the age of five. Following the pancake breakfast, guests can ride the free shuttle downtown to catch the West Parkland Gas Co-op Parade beginning at 10 AM. The rodeo grounds will open on Saturday with the first performance scheduled for 2 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the arena gates.
“In light of last year’s incident at the Farmers’ Days midway, all midway rides will undergo a full inspection completed by Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Rides Safety Association (AEDARSA) on May 31 before any rides take place. This precautionary measure will help ensure everyone has a fun and safe experience at Farmers’ Days,” says Mayor William Choy. “Last September, Council presented at the 2023 Alberta Municipalities Convention an Emergent Resolution requesting the Government of Alberta to conduct a review of the codes and standards that govern amusement rides to ensure members of the public can enjoy the safe operation of these experiences. The resolution was approved and is currently under review by the Government of Alberta and AEDARSA.”
“Farmers’ Days is Stony Plain’s biggest event of the year, and it’s all about having fun with the family! The Kids Korral and Parkland Pioneer Museum are great places to go when you have young ones who might not be ready for some of the midway rides,” says Tevra Graham, Event Coordinator. “We have also extended the parade route this year to ensure more community members, particularly those in care centres along the route who might otherwise miss out, can experience the parade. This year I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy all their Farmers’ Days favourites!”
“The Stony Plain Kinsmen Club is excited to host the rodeo again this summer! This year, be sure to keep a look out for trick riders as they’ll be entertaining all weekend,” says Derek Roberts, President of the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club. “After that, come enjoy some amazing live entertainment at the Kinsmen Saloon.”
"Farmers’ Days is a beloved community event, and I’m very excited to enjoy this year’s festivities. Whether it’s the midway, rodeo, or enjoying some pancakes prepared by yours truly, there’s something for everyone at Farmers’ Days,” says Mayor Choy. “Stony Plain prides itself on its community and prioritizes the well-being of our residents and visitors. We are dedicated to ensuring everyone has an amazing time at this year’s Farmers’ Days!"
The Town is once again offering free Park N’ Ride services which will be provided at various locations throughout the community. Parking will not be available on-site and the shuttle services will be running throughout the weekend.
