According to his representatives, James Earl Jones passed away in his New York home on the morning of September 9, 2024.

Over the span of his exceptional career, James Earl Jones has become one of Hollywood's most beloved stars. From overcoming his stutter as a child, to paving the way for Black actors in Hollywood, he then brought some of the most iconic characters alive on stage and on screen.

His unmistakable voice brought you to tears as The Lion King’s Mufasa and has eternally etched the iconic line “I am your father” into your mind as Darth Vader in Star Wars. His talents were used for more than just voice acting though; he made a name for himself in countless Broadway productions and as many other characters in television and film.

The acclaimed actor has been nothing short of remarkable in his career, with an extensive collection of accolades – even going as far as achieving the most coveted award in performing arts, the EGOT. In 2011, James Earl Jones received the Academy Honorary Award, thus completing one of the most outstanding achievements one can receive in the industry.

Rest in peace, James Earl Jones. Your legacy will live on forever.
