The One FM received some recognition on Saturday night

Every year The Public School Boards Association of Alberta's recognition committee sifts through suggestions to see who should be selected for an award at its Spring General Assembly.

"We're giving the awards to those those who make significant contributions," explained Association President Dennis MacNeil.

Recently radio station staff learned 89.7 The One had been nominated by Wolf Creek Public Schools in the category of Special Contribution to Education Media Award and then found out the station won it.

"The contribution you make is very significant. The awards are there for us to be able to express our gratitude for the work that you do, promoting and protecting public schools in the province," said MacNeil, who also added "I think that's a real testament to your dedication to fostering a love for learning in your community."

This award and others were handed out at a ceremony in Calgary on Saturday.
