RCMP will host a pair of recruiting sessions Wednesday to encourage people to explore a career in the Red Serge.
The Mounties have placed a greater emphasis on recruiting since coming out of the pandemic.
“Covid times the numbers kind of dropped down,” Cst. Neil Muz admitted in an interview with the One.
One of the common misconceptions about a career with the RCMP is where a recruit will be stationed after training at the depot in Regina.
“When I went through 20 years ago you signed a paper and you go anywhere in Canada,” Muz said. “Now you can basically pick your province obviously except for Ontario and Quebec.”
While there are minimum age requirements for joining the RCMP, there are no maximums.
“We get a lot of people coming to us that are 45 plus that are looking for a change in their careers, and looking for that challenge,” Muz added.
