LEDUC -- The Black Gold School Division is hosting a Youth Leadership Summit at Ohpaho Secondary School.
The Division says the one-day event aims to equip students with the tools, confidence, and voice to make a difference in their schools and communities, and will focus on leadership, advocacy, and wellness. The event will feature a group of 300 students in Grades 4 through 12 from the BGSD and Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission.
The event will take place under the theme, "Game Changers" and the motto, "Empower. Influence. Lead." The summit will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on April 22 as the BGSD says the event will bring together a dynamic mix of student perspectives and leadership styles.
The keynote speaker for the Youth Leadership Summit will be Bryan Saint-Louis, director of the Global Leadership Academy and founder of BSL Speaks. Saint-Louis has dedicated his career to empowering young individuals, developing future leaders, and effecting institutional change through the concept of "Radical Empathy."
Other speakers at the event will include Canadian Paralympian Heidi Peters; Linda Hoang, a professional Edmonton-area blogger and social media personality; and award-winning writer Dr. Sean Lessard.
